Abstract

The objective of this work is to analyze the influence of temperature on metal material fractures. For this, steel proof bod-ies were subjected to Charpy impact tests at temperatures of 100°C and -196°C. Then, fractures were analyzed under an electron mi-croscope and the fractures of the proof bodies were found to be distinct, due to characteristics found, such as plastic deformation and cracking. Finally, it was concluded that the temperatures are determinant in the formation of the ductile and fragile fractures.
