Abstract

This work aimed to evaluate the crystallinity of the polycarbonate when it is subjected to the tensile test at room tem-perature. Generally, crystalline and semicrystalline polymers have increased crystallinity when subjected to a cold deformation pro-cess. However, amorphous polymers may also exhibit such behav-ior, since the alignment of the chains allows the secondary interac-tions to generate a possible crystallinity in the material. In order to evaluate the crystallinity, tensile tests were carried out, followed by physical-chemical analyzes of XRD and DSC in different samples. It has been shown in this work that the cold stretch in amorphous polycarbonate does not produce crystallinity.
